The Mandalorian has introduced one of the richest supporting casts in modern Star Wars, but when The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026) made the leap to theaters, most of those familiar faces were nowhere to be seen.
Despite three seasons of adventures alongside Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), fan favorites such as Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), The Armorer (Emily Swallow), Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) were all absent from the film.
Aside from Din, Grogu, and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios (Steve Blum), the theatrical outing instead focused on newcomers, including Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Ward and Jeremy Allen White’s Rotta the Hutt. Two omissions stood out more than any others.

Gina Carano’s Cara Dune has been absent from Star Wars since Lucasfilm parted ways with the actress in 2021, leaving the former Rebel shock trooper’s future unresolved.
While a live-action return appears highly unlikely, the expanding world of Star Wars publishing and animation means the character could still reappear one day in comic books, novels, or even an animated project without Carano’s involvement.
Carl Weathers’ Greef Karga seemed even less likely to return following the actor’s passing in 2024. However, Lucasfilm has quietly ensured the beloved High Magistrate of Nevarro lives on.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu – Danger in the Dark brings Greef Karga back in his first canonical appearance since Weathers’ death.
Published by Lucasfilm Publishing alongside Mad Cave Studios and Papercutz, the newly released one-shot comic serves as a direct prequel to The Mandalorian & Grogu, exploring the aftermath of Pirate King Gorian Shard’s assault on Nevarro from Season 3.
The comic demonstrates that, even if certain characters don’t return to the screen, Star Wars still has plenty of ways to continue their stories.
With LEGO specials, comic books, novels, tabletop games, and other publishing projects continuing to expand the franchise, familiar Mandalorian faces may continue appearing long after their live-action journeys have ended.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is now available on digital platforms, with the 4K Ultra HD edition arriving on August 25.
