Disney Parks Expansion Plan Drops Key Entertainment Elements

Disneyland Resort is making significant changes to its entertainment lineup, and the “Avengers Assemble!” stunt show is the latest casualty. The popular Marvel attraction, which debuted in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park in June 2021, will officially end its run in April 2025.

For nearly four years, guests enjoyed the thrilling spectacle, watching iconic Marvel superheroes like Black Panther and Captain America team up with Black Widow to protect Avengers Campus from Taskmaster and his cronies. The show even introduced a seasonal version during the 2021 holiday season, featuring Hawkeye and Kate Bishop, timed to coincide with the launch of the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

In a statement to The Orange Country Register on Tuesday, Disneyland Resort confirmed that “Avengers Assemble!” would be closing its doors for the final time on April 5, 2025. Disney officials didn’t share any plans for a replacement show or attraction.

The “Avengers Assemble!” closure is part of a broader trend of entertainment cuts across Disneyland Resort. Over the past year, Disney has trimmed several shows and performances in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

In addition to the Avengers show, the “Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” and “Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special” shows have also ended, and stunt performers have been reduced or removed from other performances, such as The Amazing Spider-Man stuntronic show. “Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje” and “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!” have seen fewer performances.

These changes are occurring as Disneyland Resort prepares to expand the Avengers Campus with two exciting new attractions: Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. With the upcoming additions, Disney California Adventure Park will double the size of its Marvel land.
