Total Solar Eclipse in Walt Disney World, August 2045

August 12, 2045 will see a total solar eclipse cross directly over the park for a whopping six minutes. The news, reported by National Eclipse on X, formerly Twitter, even made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the price of a Disney World vacation.

The account wrote, “What will a ticket to @WaltDisneyWorld cost on August 12, 2045, when a six-minute total solar eclipse crosses directly over the park?

The Basics: What is a Total Solar Eclipse?

Before going down that rabbit hole, let’s address the basics. What is a total solar eclipse?

A total solar eclipse happens every eighteen months or so when the moon completely covers the face of the sun, and because of the nature of cosmic placement and scale, to be able to even see it, one has to be within a “narrow path of totality.”

This “path of totality” is around 15,000 km or 9000 miles long but only about 150 km or 90 miles wide. Depending on where an individual is located around the world and what their proximity is to this path of totality, they may or may not be able to observe a partial eclipse.

With the upcoming total solar eclipse on the menu for April 8, 2024, naturally, guests are incredibly excited about the possibility of another one coming up soon (well, relatively speaking, anyway).

This total solar eclipse in 2045, which will see Disney World plunged into a kind of darkness, already has many excited for the possibility of being at the parks (provided they’ll be able to afford it, of course.)

Guests responded humorously to National Eclipse’s post and question, sharing a variety of responses to the news and the post’s question about the cost of a Disney World trip in 2045.

One wrote, “Lmao. Good on you thinkin we’re still gonna be around in 2045.”

Another guest took a guess at how much it would cost. “500 bucks plus 100 bucks for the glasses.”

A third joked, “Lmao. Good on you thinkin we’re still gonna be around in 2045.”

Regardless, this will certainly be an exciting event for guests, and is a novel experience for many fans as well!
