A Disney World vacation looks a little different in 2026, and some longtime guests are discovering that the changes begin before they even enter a theme park. From transportation restrictions to tighter policies surrounding popular hobbies, Disney has quietly rolled out several rule updates that are already changing how visitors experience the resort.
Some of these rules are completely new, while others have technically existed for years but are now being enforced much more consistently. Either way, they’re worth knowing before your next trip.
Here are four rule changes now affecting Disney guests.
Resort Hopping From Disney Springs Just Got More Difficult
One of the biggest changes centers on Disney Springs transportation.
For years, many guests parked at Disney Springs before boarding Disney buses or boats to visit nearby resort hotels. It was an easy way to explore restaurants, browse gift shops, or simply enjoy the atmosphere without staying overnight.
That strategy no longer works for everyone.
Guests leaving Disney Springs for a Disney Resort hotel must now have either a valid resort reservation or a confirmed dining reservation at the hotel they plan to visit. Without one, access to Disney transportation from Disney Springs is no longer available.
The change is expected to reduce unnecessary traffic on Disney transportation while giving priority to hotel guests and visitors with confirmed plans.
For many locals and Annual Passholders, though, it removes one of the easiest ways to spend an afternoon exploring Disney property.
Pin Traders Face Tighter Restrictions
Disney isn’t ending pin trading, but it is changing how collectors participate.
Over the years, some trading locations evolved into large gatherings where guests spread hundreds of pins across benches, picnic tables, and other public areas.
Disney is now putting a stop to those oversized setups.
Pins can no longer be displayed across public furniture, and elaborate trading stations featuring lights, signs, or decorative displays are no longer permitted. Instead, guests are expected to use traditional methods such as lanyards or small handheld trading books.
Disney has also reminded guests that official pin trades remain limited to one pin for one pin, with a maximum of two trades per Cast Member or Disney trading board each day.
Collectors can still enjoy the hobby, but the experience has become much more streamlined than in previous years.
More Children Can Ride Big Thunder Mountain
Not every rule change makes things more restrictive.
Following its extensive refurbishment, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened with a lower minimum height requirement.
Instead of requiring riders to be at least 40 inches tall, children measuring 38 inches can now board the attraction.
That seemingly minor adjustment could make a major difference for families traveling with younger children who narrowly missed qualifying in the past.
It also allows more guests to experience one of Magic Kingdom’s signature attractions without waiting for another vacation.
Bluey’s New Home Comes With One Important Requirement
Bluey’s Wild World has quickly become one of Animal Kingdom’s most popular family offerings, but reaching it isn’t as simple as walking over.
The attraction is located inside Conservation Station, which is only accessible via the Wildlife Express Train.
That creates one important rule parents should know before arriving.
Only foldable strollers are permitted on the train. Families using larger strollers must either fold them before boarding or leave them behind until they return.
For parents carrying diaper bags, snacks, and everything else needed for a day at Disney, it’s an easy detail to overlook.
Planning ahead can save valuable time and help avoid unnecessary frustration once you reach the station.
A Different Disney Experience
Disney regularly updates its operations as guest demand changes, and 2026 has already brought several noticeable adjustments.
While none of these policies are likely to ruin a vacation, they could catch unprepared visitors by surprise. Knowing the rules before arriving can help guests spend less time dealing with unexpected restrictions and more time enjoying everything Walt Disney World has to offer.
