Disney Shuts Down Mickey’s PhilharMagic, ‘Zootopia’ Arriving Today
Guests arriving at Hong Kong Disneyland today may notice a familiar attraction missing from Fantasyland’s operating lineup.
First introduced in 2003 at Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s PhilharMagic was designed to blend Disney animation with 3D technology and in-theater physical effects.

Guests follow Donald Duck after he borrows Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat and moves through scenes from Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Peter Pan (1953).
The theater uses wind, water spray, and scent to enhance the presentation. The result is a short-format show built around movement and sensory effects.
In 2021, the attraction received a notable update with the addition of a Coco (2017) sequence featuring “Un Poco Loco” during Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Variations of the attraction continue to operate across several Disney resorts worldwide. While refurbishments occasionally occur, a full-day closure not tied to maintenance remains unusual.
Full-Day Attraction Closure Confirmed for Today
Disney previously confirmed that Mickey’s PhilharMagic is closed all day today, November 27, 2025.

Unlike standard closures, today’s shutdown is tied to a private, invite-only event. The theater is being used for a special preview screening of the new animated sequel, Zootopia 2.
Because the event is not open to the public, guests visiting the park today are unable to access the attraction at any point.

The closure applies specifically to the version of Mickey’s PhilharMagic located in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland.
The attraction is expected to return to normal operation tomorrow, November 28, with no extended downtime currently scheduled.
Private, single-day closures tied to special events remain rare for high-capacity, continuously operating attractions.
Use of Operating Attractions for Private Screenings
Disney frequently rents out its parks for private events, which often results in early park closures for daily guests.
Earlier this year, parts of Walt Disney Studios Park — soon to be renamed Disney Adventure World — closed as early as 11 a.m. due to a private event.
What sets today’s situation apart is the use of a full-time operating attraction for exclusive access rather than a general land or park area.

The use of the theater for a Zootopia 2 screening reflects Disney’s broader cross-promotional strategy between its studio and parks divisions.
Zootopia was both a critical and box office success, making its sequel one of the studio’s most closely watched animated releases.
