Disney World Hotel Guests Shocked by Unexpected Fee in $200 Room
A recent stay at a Walt Disney World Value Resort hotel turned into an unexpected encounter with some unwelcome visitors. During a visit to Disney’s Pop Century Resort, a Disney Dining team member discovered an issue in their room that raised concerns about the hotel’s housekeeping standards.
Housekeeping Woes at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a Value Resort known for its colorful theming and budget-friendly accommodations. Situated across Hourglass Lake from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the hotel offers easy access to Walt Disney World‘s theme parks via bus and Disney Skyliner transportation.

As part of modernization efforts, Disney renovated Pop Century’s rooms in the late 2010s, replacing carpets with vinyl flooring and incorporating Murphy beds for extra space. More recently, the Disney Resort hotel unveiled a refreshed Everything Pop Shopping & Dining area with new seating and décor to enhance the guest experience.
A Disappointing Discovery at a Disney World Hotel
Despite these updates, some guests have raised concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney’s housekeeping services have shifted to an every-other-day schedule. However, during a recent stay in the 70s section of Pop Century Resort, a Disney Dining team member encountered an unsettling issue upon check-in—several dead flies stuck to the bathroom ceiling.

The flies were impossible to remove due to the bathroom’s humidity, which caused them to adhere to the ceiling. Despite multiple attempts, the pests remained visible for the duration of the stay.
