3. Stick as close as feasible to your daily routine at home.
When you’re on vacation, things are just different, no matter what age you are. As adults, we tend to stray away from our healthier eating habits when on vacation. We stay up later at night, and we may not rest as much as we should (funny, because aren’t vacations for resting and recharging?). But for small children, routines offer a sense of security, and straying too far from those routines can have negative effects on your vacation. Even if you can’t follow the same eating, nap and bedtime routines, try to keep some of the routine in place so that your children aren’t exhausted and cranky during the entire trip and so that you will have an easier time settling back into that routine once you return home.
