As Magic Kingdom’s first thrill ride, Space Mountain remains a solid guest favorite despite its age. The outer space theming of the roller coaster fits right in with Tomorrowland, and still holds up today thanks to meticulous attention to detail when it was first being built. Disney consulted with NASA astronaut Gordon Cooper when designing the ride to ensure its authenticity, so It’s easy to understand why it maintains its popularity. First time riders may be surprised (or disheartened!) to discover that this roller coaster takes place in the dark, but the dizzying twists and turns of this ride keep Disney fanatics coming back for more!
