Forgetting Rain Gear

We all hope for sunshine the whole time at Walt Disney World, but the reality is that rain happens. Don’t be fooled by the weather app saying it won’t rain during your trip.

Rainstorms pop up suddenly, and you will want those rain ponchos and umbrellas. Toss those into your Disney Park bag so you are ready to go. Packing these items can make touring the Parks much easier when it is rainy. Don’t make the mistake of leaving it in your Disney Resort room, as that will be the day you need it.

Thinking You Can Do It All

People planning Walt Disney World vacations often think they will get it all in during one trip. No matter how long your vacation is, you won’t be able to get it all done. With four Disney Parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, mini golf courses, and an outstanding Disney Resort with fantastic dining options, one trip is never enough time.

Don’t head into the trip thinking that you will be able to accomplish it all. Take time to think through your goals and use that to guide your plans. We also recommend having a general idea of what your must-do experiences are before arriving. This will help ensure you don’t miss those essential experiences.

Sleeping In Everyday

We know that on vacation, you don’t want to set your alarm. At Walt Disney World, you will want to take advantage of those early hours at the Parks. It is during this time that you will experience lower wait times.

Some of the lowest crowds you will experience in the four Theme Parks will be during the morning hours. If you sleep in every day of your trip, you are setting yourself in the middle of the crowds daily. By rope dropping (being at the Park when it opens), you can accomplish a lot early in the morning with little time waiting in lines. This can set up the rest of your day for success as well.

Mornings are a crucial time to be in the Parks, so don’t sleep in each day of your Walt Disney World trip.

Rope Dropping Everyday

On the other hand, you won’t want to rope drop every day of a Disney trip. Disney vacations are a lot of work. Allow yourself some mornings to have a slower start to the day. Sleep in, go to the pool, have an excellent breakfast, and get to the Parks a little later.

Having tired, cranky family members isn’t going to be very magical. Instead, take some mornings to sleep in and have a slower start to the day.

Forgetting Key Items

You want to remember your Disney Park must-have items when you rush out the door in the morning and catch the bus to the Park. Make sure that you have a way to get into Disney Park. This might be your MagicBand, your phone, or a ticket.

Next, it is a good idea to have portable chargers for all the phones you carry to the Theme Parks. Between photos, Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and using the My Disney Experience app, your phone will drain quickly. Make sure you are prepared by having those portable chargers ready to go.

Sunscreen and sun protection is also crucial factor. Make sure you throw in some, no matter what the weather states the day will be like. The Florida sun is no joke; you will want to be prepared and protected from it.

Finally, bring along any medicine you might need for the day. Chapstick with SPF is essential, as is any motion sickness or stomach medicine you might need. You don’t want to be stuck in the Theme Park not feeling well, so come prepared with those medicines that might help.

You don’t want to be at the Park only to need something back at your Resort.

Eating the Same Thing

Don’t eat only hot dogs, burgers, or chicken nuggets during your Disney vacation. Walt Disney World has many fantastic dining options throughout the Parks, Resorts, and Disney Springs. Look into all the different dining locations to find something best for you.

You can find various options, from signature dining locations to quick meals on the go. Consider Flame Tree Barbecue or Satu’li Canteen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Ronto Roasters, 50s Prime Time Cafe, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo offer unique and fun choices.

If you are in EPCOT, explore the many food options throughout the pavilions. When a festival is going on, enjoy the great flavors at the food booths.

Don’t make the mistake of eating the same food every day. Disney provides a lot of different cuisines if you know where to look for it.

Those are some of the big mistakes that Guests make while at Walt Disney World. We hope that by bringing them up, you can avoid them during your next trip to Disney. Head in prepared so you can have a wonderful time enjoying the magic.
