When to Go

The first step when planning a trip to Walt Disney World is determining when you want to go. We have learned that Walt Disney World no longer has a “down” season. Instead of looking for low crowds in a Disney Park, we highly recommend choosing when to go based on what you want to experience.

Throughout the year, Walt Disney World has different events in each Disney Park that Guests can experience. If you love the holidays, maybe you want to head down to Disney to experience Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. For those that love to dress up, consider a trip in the fall when you can attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and trick or treat around Magic Kingdom.

EPCOT’s festivals throughout the year are events you can plan your trip around. If you love the arts, ensure you are at Disney during the Festival of the Arts in February. The Flower and Garden Festival is a beautiful time to visit as EPCOT looks stunning with flowers everywhere.

If you dislike heat, stay away from the summer months. For those that like sunshine, think about April and May when there is less rain and more sun.

Think about when you want to go as you prepare for your 2024 trip to Walt Disney World. This is the first step in the planning process.

Where to Stay

After you have determined when you want to go, it is time to figure out where you want to stay. We always recommend staying at one of Disney’s fantastic Resorts. Disney offers Resorts at all price levels, making it easy for Guests to find something that fits their budget.

Remember your budget to determine if you want to stay at a value, moderate, or deluxe Disney Resort. Once you know which category fits your budget, you can dive into what each Resort offers. Look at the dining, transportation, and theming to determine what Resort is best for you.

Learn more about these Disney Resort categories by diving into our post HERE. This post breaks down the main differences between the three Resort categories at Disney and can help you decide.

Disney Dining Plan

Back in 2024 will be the Disney Dining Plan. As you prepare for your 2024 trip, take some time to dig into what the dining plans offer. These are great ways to make your Disney trip feel more all-inclusive.

Guests can prepay for their meals and then, during their trip, use credits at select dining locations throughout the Walt Disney World Property. You can add the dining plans until the final payment, so take time to see what they offer and determine if they will be a good investment based on how your family will eat during your trip.

Restaurant Menus

You can make reservations at table service restaurants throughout Disney two months before your trip. Before you lock yourself into those reservations, take time now to look at the menus.

Disney does a great job keeping menus up to date on the My Disney Experience app. Use that to see what is available at restaurants. This is a great way to ensure everyone finds something they will enjoy before the trip.

Look at blog posts about restaurants to get ideas of where you might want to eat, and then look at menus to finalize your plans. This is a great thing to do before your trip and that 60-day reservation mark.
