Disney Transportation 101 - 7 Ways to Get Around at Disney World Resort

Magical Express

2. Disney’s Magical Express

Of course, if you're flying into Orlando and you don't plan to rent a car, you will need some way to get from the airport to your resort. This is where Disney's Magical Express steps in. This awesome bus service picks you up at the airport and transports you to your resort in a super clean bus with a television that plays Disney cartoons to entertain the little ones. If you're lucky, you might also be treated to some Disney jokes or trivia along the way. Best of all, if you are on a domestic flight, you won't even have to touch your luggage. Instead, Disney picks it up for you and delivers it to your room, meaning you can relax from the moment you step off the plane.

1. Car

Last but not least, there is the option of driving yourself around. If you're one of the very few who doesn't mind driving on vacation, this option may actually appeal to you. Disney World Resort is a very drivable place with plenty of signage, making it easy to navigate. The biggest benefit of driving yourself around is the time gained. Driving your own car is almost always faster than taking Disney transportation. The only time this isn't true is when you're visiting Magic Kingdom. Those who visit Magic Kingdom with a car are required to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).  This means taking a tram to the station and then a monorail or ferry to the park, a process that takes quite some time. Meanwhile, bus and boat riders are dropped off right by the gate for quick and easy work access.

Bonus! Skyliner Gondola System

Since we first published this article, an exciting new addition to Disney's transportation options has been added to the list.  The delightful Skyliner Gondola system affords transportation between Hollywood Studios and Epcot via the International Gateway entrance from the World Showcase at Epcot.   Several Disney resorts are also homes to stops via the new transportation system including Disney's Riviera Resort, The Art of Animation and Caribbean Beach.  Guests will enjoy the colorfully designed and themed gondolas which whisk passengers from one point to another in grand fashion! There are many ways to traverse Disney World Resort.  Make sure you're aware of these options to make use of their convenience and you may decide you don't even need to rent a car when you get here!
