Disabled Guest Says Halloween Horror Nights Ended With a Threat of Arrest, and the Internet Is Split

The last night of Halloween Horror Nights is supposed to be bittersweet. You squeeze in one more house, snap a few more photos, and slowly make your way out while saying goodbye to another season. But for one guest at Universal Studios Florida, the night ended on a really sour note. A guest who identifies as disabled took to Threads to share that she was threatened with arrest while leaving the final night of Halloween Horror Nights 2026. Her post has racked up thousands of views, and people have a lot of opinions.

Here’s What She Says Went Down at Halloween Horror Nights

According to her post, she and her partner were on their way out around 2:30 AM and stopped to take some photos. About five minutes later, officers working inside the park came up behind them. She says they told her to walk faster or basically face being arrested. Her response? She says she asked if they wanted her to fly, because she was already walking as fast as she could and there were several of them right on her back. According to her, one officer said he wished she would, then told her there were only two ways out and she should keep walking. That’s when she says she told them she was disabled and physically couldn’t go any faster. And then? She says they suddenly got quiet and wouldn’t make eye contact.

She Thinks They Were Profiled

In a follow-up comment, she said she honestly thinks she and her partner were profiled because of how they looked. She mentioned the pins on their backpack and her partner’s very colorful outfit. She also admitted they’re not exactly fans of police. Now, to be clear, this is her side of the story. We don’t know what the officers were thinking, and Universal Orlando Resort hasn’t said anything publicly about it.

She’s Been a Universal Fan Forever

Here’s the part that kind of hurts. She said she’s been coming to Universal her entire life and has always had a pass. In her experience, Universal has always been great to locals, so she was genuinely sad this happened there.

A Lot of People Have Her Back

Plenty of commenters jumped in to support her. People said they were sorry her fun night ended like that and called the whole thing scary and infuriating. One person who visited Universal in a wheelchair earlier this year made a really good point. Their disability is visible, but hers isn’t, and that can lead to people being treated unfairly because no one can see what they’re dealing with. When some people questioned whether she was really disabled, others shut that down fast, pointing out that she talks about her disability openly on her account. Strangers on the internet don’t get to decide that.

But Others Aren’t Buying It

Not everyone was on her side, though. A bunch of people pointed out that Halloween Horror Nights closed at 2:00 AM, so stopping for photos at 2:30 AM was a half hour after close. Some said employees have jobs to do and schedules to keep, and that if she had just kept walking, nobody would’ve bothered her. Even some of those critics admitted the officer shouldn’t have talked to her like that, though. And yeah, a few comments got straight-up mean, mocking her or calling her a liar. Not cool.

Real Talk About the Last Night at Halloween Horror Nights

If you’ve ever been to the last night of Halloween Horror Nights, you know nobody is sprinting to the exit. Die-hard fans take their time. They take pictures. They soak it all in. It’s kind of a tradition. So realistically, she probably wasn’t the only person still hanging around. That doesn’t change the closing rules, but it does make you wonder why she got singled out.

Invisible Disabilities Are Real

This whole thing is a big reminder that you can’t always see a disability. Someone might look totally fine and still be in pain or physically unable to move faster. Having multiple officers behind you telling you to hurry up or get arrested? That would be scary for anyone. For someone who literally can’t go faster, it’s even worse.

So, Who’s Wrong Here?

Honestly, it depends on who you ask. Some people think she should’ve kept moving. Others think nothing justifies talking to a disabled guest like that. We’ll say this much. Parks have rules for a reason, but kindness should be part of the job too. What do you think? Who’s in the wrong?
