Jack Lowden Finally Responds to James Bond Casting Rumors

Gary Oldman’s comments about the next James Bond caused quite a stir in September, when the actor appeared to suggest that his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden had already been chosen as 007. Now, Lowden has finally responded to the speculation.

Speaking to GQ, the Scottish actor acknowledged that being linked to the iconic role of James Bond was “flattering” but made it clear he wasn’t interested in adding to the ongoing rumors.

“It’s all very flattering,” Lowden said in the interview. “It’s nice to be mentioned — for any role — and I’m just not really going to add to the noise.”

He also addressed Oldman’s apparent casting revelation, describing his co-star as “a sweetheart” and saying it was particularly lovely to receive such support from him. However, Lowden added: “But I don’t really listen to it.”

Oldman had told Canada’s The Morning Show that Lowden was rumored to be on the shortlist before claiming: “Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”

He subsequently clarified that he didn’t know who had been selected, explaining that he had simply heard a rumor that producers had made their decision.

Lowden has been linked to the role for some time. More recently, reports have named Lowden, Callum Turner (Eternity), and Josh O’Connor (Disclosure Day) among those reportedly involved in the latest London screen tests. Jacob Elordi (Wuthering Heights), Jack O’Connell (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Jack Barton (Heartstopper) have also been linked to the part.
