Disney Quietly Makes Permanent Change at Popular Walt Disney World Resorts

Remember when Disney World resorts swapped out their printed recreation schedules for QR codes? Well, it’s official. That change is here to stay. Walt Disney World Resort hotels are now putting up permanent signs for those QR code recreation schedules, and they’ve already popped up at a few resorts along the Disney Skyliner. So if you’re staying at Pop Century, Art of Animation, or Caribbean Beach anytime soon, keep an eye out.

Quick Backstory

Back in September, Disney resorts started ditching their printed recreation schedules and replacing them with QR codes you scan with your phone. The idea is pretty simple. Instead of printing a new sign every time an activity changes, resorts can just update the schedule online, and the QR code always takes you to the latest version. At first, though, those QR codes were just hanging out on temporary setups like sandwich boards and movable frames. It kind of felt like Disney was testing the waters. Now, with permanent frames going up, it’s pretty clear the QR codes aren’t going anywhere.

Here’s Where Erica LaurenThey’ve Been Spotted

At Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the new signs are sitting in blue frames tucked into planters around the resorts. Pop Century also has another sign inside the lobby, this one in a silver frame. Over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, there’s a sign in a white and seafoam green frame in a flower bed, which totally matches the resort’s tropical vibe. And there’s another one posted in an opening near the lobby.

Riviera Is Still Catching Up

Not every resort has the permanent setup yet. At Disney’s Riviera Resort, the sign is in a black frame that still looks temporary. So it seems like the rollout is still happening, and we’d guess more resorts will get the permanent signs soon.

Why Families at Pop Century and Art of Animation Will Love This

Let’s be real. Pop Century and Art of Animation are basically kid central. Both resorts are packed with families, and when you’ve got little ones, finding something to do between park days is a big deal. With the QR code signs right there in planters and near the lobby, parents can just pull out their phone, scan, and see what’s happening at the resort. No hunting down a flyer, no waiting in line at the front desk to ask what’s going on tonight. When your kids are tired, cranky, and asking what’s next, that kind of convenience matters.

All Skyliner Resorts, Too

Here’s a fun detail. Every resort mentioned here, Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera, is on the Disney Skyliner route. The Skyliner connects these resorts to each other and to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so tons of guests pass through these areas every single day.

A Few Tips

If you’re staying at a Disney resort, look near the lobby and in planters or flower beds for the signs. Scan the code with your phone’s camera, and maybe bookmark the page so you don’t have to keep hunting for the sign. And since schedules can change, check it a few times during your stay so you don’t miss anything.

Small Change, Big Help

Is a QR code sign the most exciting Disney news ever? No. But it’s one of those little updates that actually makes life easier, especially for families juggling kids and park plans. So next time you’re at Pop Century or Art of Animation, look for the blue frames. Your next resort activity is just one scan away.
