Disney Confirms Permanent World Showcase Cut as Historic EPCOT Overhaul Marches On
Disney has big plans for EPCOT, but some attractions from the park’s past aren’t getting the same attention as others.
Over the years, Disney has introduced new experiences, renovated existing rides, and retired attractions that once entertained thousands of visitors.
That trend continues today, with several major EPCOT projects either completed or planned.
However, one former World Showcase favorite remains noticeably absent from Disney’s announcements.
Despite the company’s willingness to revisit older attractions, this particular experience hasn’t received another chance, leaving its original version firmly in EPCOT’s history.
An EPCOT Experience Unlike Most Others
World Showcase offers plenty to explore, from restaurants and shops to entertainment across its 11 country pavilions.
But there was a time when visiting those countries also meant participating in a secret mission.
Disney introduced an interactive experience that encouraged families to investigate different locations, search for clues, and discover surprises hidden throughout World Showcase.
Rather than sitting inside a ride vehicle, participants traveled between locations and completed assignments at their own pace.
The adventure appealed to families, especially children who recognized the characters from Disney Channel.
It also gave visitors another reason to explore pavilion details they might otherwise overlook.
Despite fan pleas, the attraction has disappeared from EPCOT.

Disney Transformed World Showcase
The concept began with interactive testing in 2006 before Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure officially debuted in 2009.
Based on Disney Channel’s animated series, the attraction invited guests to assist Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable with secret assignments.
Participants received special handheld devices known as Kimmunicators.
Resembling flip phones, these devices delivered messages, instructions, and clues to help families navigate the various World Showcase pavilions.
Guests collected their equipment from designated kiosks before beginning missions involving villains from the series.
Each adventure required visitors to explore specific locations, investigate clues, and solve puzzles.
However, the attraction’s most memorable feature involved the surrounding environment.
Kimmunicators could trigger hidden effects throughout World Showcase, turning ordinary decorations into interactive elements.

Pressing a button might cause an object to move, illuminate, or respond unexpectedly.
These effects helped create the feeling that guests were participating in an actual spy adventure rather than simply completing a scavenger hunt.
Disney developed seven missions, allowing families to experience different stories and discover additional locations.
Visitors could even begin another mission after completing their first assignment.
For fans of the television series, the attraction offered an unusual opportunity to become part of Kim Possible’s world.
But Disney eventually moved away from the original theme.
Disney Confirms Replacement
In 2012, Disney permanently closed Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure and introduced Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure.
The replacement kept much of the original interactive format but shifted attention toward Phineas and Ferb.
Guests now worked alongside Perry the Platypus, better known as Agent P, to complete secret missions throughout World Showcase.
The experience continued, featuring hidden effects and interactive assignments.
Disney eventually introduced another replacement, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure, featuring characters from DuckTales.
Unlike the original Kim Possible experience, this version used the Play Disney Parks app instead of handheld Kimmunicators.
Disney permanently shut down the app on September 16, 2026, ending the original app-based version.
However, the company confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return in a modified format.
Kim Possible hasn’t received a similar announcement.
Although Disney continues to develop and update EPCOT experiences, the original spy adventure remains discontinued, with no announced plans for its revival.

Big Plans On the Way for EPCOT
While Kim Possible remains absent, several other EPCOT attractions have received attention.
Test Track underwent a major reimagining, introducing an updated experience centered on transportation history and innovation.
Frozen Ever After also received new animatronics, improving the appearance of familiar characters.
Meanwhile, Soarin’ Across America debuted in May 2026 to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Disney also has additional projects planned.
Journey Into Imagination With Figment is expected to receive updates involving the return of Dreamfinder.
Spaceship Earth is preparing for a massive reimagining following announcements at the 2026 D23 convention.
These projects reflect Disney’s continued investment in existing attractions, even as other experiences remain retired.

Will the Adventure Ever Return?
EPCOT has changed considerably since opening in 1982, and Disney isn’t finished transforming the park.
However, those changes don’t guarantee that every discontinued attraction will eventually return.
Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure has already been replaced twice, and Disney has announced no plans to bring back the original experience.
Another World Showcase adventure could emerge someday, but Kim Possible’s missions currently remain part of the park’s past.
For guests who remember carrying Kimmunicators between pavilions, that chapter of EPCOT history remains closed.
