Germany Pavilion Location Removed From EPCOT’s World Showcase at Disney World

The EPCOT’s Germany pavilion has suffered a loss on the World Showcase, leaving guests without one of the area’s most familiar grab-and-go stops.

The pretzel and beer cart has long been a reliable source of oversized German-style pretzels and a selection of beers. Disney has not issued any explanation for the removal, nor has the company indicated whether the cart will return or when.

The disappearance comes during a busy stretch of change for the Germany pavilion. While larger projects elsewhere at Walt Disney World have drawn most of the attention this year, including Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom and the upcoming Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Germany has seen its own series of disruptions. The Volkskunst merchandise shop closed, Der Teddybär shut temporarily before reopening, and construction walls were erected around the pavilion’s restrooms.

It would be tempting to link the cart’s removal to that ongoing work, but Disney has not made that connection, and the timing on its own is not evidence of one.

Passholders Suggest runDisney Connection

Guests were quick to notice the missing cart. In the public Annual Passholders for Walt Disney World Orlando Facebook group, one member proposed a straightforward reason.

“Preparing for this weekend’s race,” one commenter wrote. “All the carts are in the run path; it’s a safety hazard.”

The EPCOT Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend begins on October 22, and continues through October 24, with the half-marathon serving as the final event of the runDisney weekend. Because race routes travel around World Showcase, removing mobile carts from the course would be a logical step to protect both runners and park guests. However, the explanation comes from a guest, not Disney, and should be considered speculation until officially confirmed.

Not every comment fits neatly with that theory. Another member wrote, “Omg I noticed that last week. I hope it’s temporary,” indicating the cart may have been gone before race preparations would typically begin. The original poster responded, “I hope so.”

Other fans reacted with frustration. “Noooo, the carb cart is gone! They can’t do that to us!” one wrote.

Where to Find Pretzels in Germany

Guests can still get their pretzel fix in the pavilion. A nearby kiosk continues to serve pretzels along with its beer selection, and Sommerfest, the quick-service location near Biergarten Restaurant toward the back of the pavilion, also offers them.

Visitors planning a trip to EPCOT in the coming days should not count on the cart being in place. The above offerings are the dependable options for now, and guests should be prepared for additional changes as refurbishment continues throughout the Germany pavilion.

It remains unclear whether the cart will return after race weekend or has been permanently retired. Until Disney provides an update, guests should plan around the alternatives.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
