Disney World Vacation Warning: 7 Offerings, Including Full Park, Closed for the Holidays

Families heading to Walt Disney World for Thanksgiving or Christmas may need to make a few adjustments to their vacation plans this year.

Disney World is preparing for another busy holiday season, with festive entertainment, decorations, and special events bringing visitors to Orlando throughout November and December.

However, several familiar experiences won’t be available when guests arrive.

From temporary ride refurbishments to construction projects and an entire water park shutting down for the season, seven locations will be unavailable for at least part of the holidays.

Here’s what guests should expect between November 1 and December 31, 2026.

Magic Kingdom Losing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for Several Weeks

One of Magic Kingdom’s newer attractions will temporarily close just as the holiday season gets underway.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will shut down November 2 for a scheduled refurbishment. The attraction is expected to remain closed through December 17 before reopening on December 18.

The Frontierland ride opened in June 2024, replacing Splash Mountain with a new adventure inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Guests travel through the Louisiana bayou alongside Tiana and other familiar characters.

Unfortunately, families visiting during Thanksgiving won’t have an opportunity to experience the attraction. Those arriving closer to Christmas should have better luck.

Another Magic Kingdom Classic Won’t Reopen This Year

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure isn’t the only Magic Kingdom attraction missing the holidays.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed July 6, 2026, as Disney began preparing a reimagined version of the longtime Tomorrowland experience.

The rotating theater attraction takes audiences through different generations of American life, showing how technology has changed everyday routines.

Disney expects the updated attraction to reopen in late spring 2027.

That leaves guests visiting during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve without one of Magic Kingdom’s classic experiences.

Frontierland Railroad Station Faces Extended Shutdown

Another Magic Kingdom location could remain unavailable long after the holidays end.

The Frontierland Station of the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for an extended period as construction continues around that section of the park.

Disney’s expansion plans have affected several areas of Frontierland, including access to the railroad station.

Guests should expect the station to remain unavailable throughout the holiday season.

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date, and ongoing construction could keep the station closed beyond December.

Other railroad services may operate depending on the park’s schedule.

EPCOT Snack Location Remains Unavailable Until Thanksgiving

Over at EPCOT, guests will encounter a smaller closure near The Land pavilion.

The Land Cart is scheduled to remain unavailable through November 25, affecting visitors during the first several weeks of the holiday season.

The location typically offers snacks and refreshments for guests exploring this section of EPCOT.

Although the closure won’t affect major attractions, visitors who regularly stop at the cart will need to look elsewhere.

Fortunately, EPCOT has plenty of other dining locations throughout the park.

Hollywood Studios Closing Mickey Mouse Experience

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also losing an entertainment offering during the holiday season.

Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie will close October 28, with its reopening potentially delayed until late December or early January 2027.

The animated short follows Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends through a series of vacation adventures.

Guests normally watch the presentation inside Mickey Shorts Theater, making it a convenient indoor entertainment option.

Disney hasn’t announced an exact reopening date, so families visiting during the holidays should prepare for the experience to remain unavailable.

Blizzard Beach Water Slide Still Closed

Guests visiting Disney’s Blizzard Beach may also notice a missing attraction.

Slush Gusher, a high-speed water slide featuring several hills and moments of airtime, remains closed without an announced reopening date.

The attraction is expected to stay unavailable during the holidays unless Disney updates its operating schedule.

Fortunately, Blizzard Beach continues offering other water slides, swimming areas, and family-friendly experiences.

Entire Disney Water Park Closed Through Christmas

Perhaps the biggest holiday closure involves Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.

The water park closed September 9, 2026, for its seasonal refurbishment and isn’t expected to reopen until spring 2027.

Typhoon Lagoon features attractions including Miss Adventure Falls, Crush ‘n’ Gusher, and its enormous wave pool.

With the entire park unavailable, families hoping to enjoy a Disney water park during their holiday vacation will need to visit Blizzard Beach instead.

Disney World Still Has Plenty of Holiday Experiences

These closures may require some itinerary changes, but Disney World will still offer plenty of Christmas entertainment.

Magic Kingdom will host Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, while EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays begins November 27.

Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will also feature seasonal decorations and entertainment.

Guests should check Disney’s official operating calendar before traveling, especially since refurbishment schedules can change.

Even with several experiences unavailable, families can still enjoy Disney World’s holiday celebrations throughout November and December.
