Disney Makes Major Disney+ Change Overnight for Millions of Subscribers

Disney+ has changed overnight as Disney welcomes one of its biggest movies of 2026 to the streaming service.

Subscribers opening Disney+ now have access to Toy Story 5 (2026), which officially started streaming September 23. But the movie isn’t the only addition Disney made to the platform.

Disney has also expanded the profile customization options available to subscribers, introducing three new avatars based on the latest versions of some very familiar Pixar characters.

Three New Disney+ Avatars Arrive

Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie have all received new Disney+ profile avatars tied to Toy Story 5 (2026).

Subscribers can access the designs through their Disney+ profile settings and select one as their profile image.

Each avatar represents the characters as they appear in connection with the newest movie.

Woody wears his poncho, Jessie sports the sheriff’s badge, and Buzz appears with a gold star stuck to his chest.

It’s a relatively simple Disney+ change, but one that subscribers will see throughout the service if they decide to switch their existing profile picture.

There’s also a connection between the streaming platform and Walt Disney World. The updated character costumes debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios over the summer.

Now, those looks have made their way to Disney+.

Toy Story 5 Joins the Disney+ Library

The profile update arrives at the same time as a much larger addition.

Toy Story 5 (2026) officially began streaming on Disney+ on September 23, giving subscribers the opportunity to watch Pixar’s newest chapter at home.

This time around, Woody and the other toys face a threat that looks very different from anything they encountered in the previous movies.

Lilypad is a frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, and her arrival in Bonnie’s home creates a battle between traditional toys and technology.

Several longtime cast members returned for the sequel. Tom Hanks once again voices Woody, Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack reprises her role as Jessie. Tony Hale is also back as Forky.

And anyone wanting to turn the new streaming release into a marathon has plenty to watch.

Disney+ currently offers the previous four Toy Story movies, along with related shorts and specials through its Toy Storycollection.

Subscribers can also watch Toy Story 30 Years and Beyond – A Special Edition of 20/20, a 42-minute special looking back at Pixar and the history of the franchise.

Disney could have simply added Toy Story 5 (2026) to its library. Instead, the company has brought the movie into another part of the Disney+ experience.

For subscribers, Woody, Buzz, and Jessie aren’t just starring in Disney+’s newest major movie. They can now take over their profiles, too.
