Lucasfilm is revisiting the original Star Wars story in a new way, with Star Wars: A New Hope: Triple Take set to retell the events of the 1977 classic from three perspectives.
Announced at SDCC, the graphic novel comes from Mad Cave Studios and Papercutz and is written by Kim Shearer and Chas! Pangburn.
Triple Take tells the story of A New Hope through the eyes of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Each character sees the adventure differently, with their personalities shaping the story.
Star Wars: A New Hope Getting Retold in Multiple Ways
That makes Triple Take one of several projects bringing the Star Wars story back into focus as Lucasfilm prepares to celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
The celebrations will begin with a new Welsh-language version of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), titled Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd. Produced by Lucasfilm and Disney alongside S4C and Creative Wales, the dub will arrive across S4C platforms from Christmas Day 2026.

Lucasfilm is also partnering with Marvel for Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, a five-issue crossover written by Kevin Smith. The comic will bring Marvel heroes into the events of A New Hope, with the Avengers and Spider-Man crossing paths with Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca. Darth Vader and Doctor Doom will even find themselves on the same side.
Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Experience – A Journey Through the Galaxy will open at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in February 2027. The exhibition will celebrate 50 years with more than 70 artifacts, including costumes, props, droids, creatures, and lightsaber pieces, before beginning a five-year North American tour.
And the original movie itself is returning to theaters on February 19, 2027, giving fans a chance to experience the film that started it all.
Between Triple Take, the Welsh dub, the Marvel crossover, the exhibition, and the theatrical return, Lucasfilm is putting A New Hope at the center of its 50th anniversary plans.
