After giving guests extra time to visit “Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors,” Disney has now closed the display inside The American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT, bringing its extended run to a close following the Independence Day holiday.

The exhibit showcased more than 60 oil portraits painted by former U.S. President George W. Bush, each highlighting post-9/11 service members and veterans. Disney had previously announced that the experience would remain available through the Fourth of July weekend as part of the resort’s celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary, allowing thousands more visitors to experience the collection.

When revealing the extension earlier this year, Disney Parks Blog highlighted the company’s continued support for military members, veterans, and their families. Alongside the artwork, guests could read the personal stories behind each portrait, offering additional insight into the lives of those featured.

“I am grateful these portraits of our nation’s service members, painted by their former Commander-in-Chief, will continue to be available for guests to view at the American Adventure Pavilion at Disney’s EPCOT,” Jason Galui (Director of Veterans and Military Families at the George W. Bush Institute) told Disney Parks Blog earlier this year.

“Sharing veterans’ stories reminds all of us of their incredible courage, sacrifice, and resilience in defense of our nation – and of their continued contributions to our communities beyond their time in uniform,” he added. Although originally announced as a limited-time offering, “Portraits of Courage” remained at EPCOT through multiple extensions before Disney confirmed its final closing date.

Now, as first reported by Kenny the Pirate, guests visiting The American Adventure Pavilion have found that the exhibit has officially closed, matching Disney’s previously announced schedule following the Fourth of July weekend.

Unlike unexpected attraction closures caused by operational or technical issues, this was always intended to be the exhibit’s final extension. Guests who visited before the holiday were able to experience one of EPCOT’s most unique temporary offerings, while the pavilion has now returned to its standard operation.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
