Disneyland Is Offering Something Free This Fall That Proved So Popular Last Year
Disneyland Resort’s Halloween season comes with a lot of price tags attached to its best offerings. Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure is a separately ticketed after-hours event that sells out quickly and requires advance planning. Halloween Time in the parks requires park admission. The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party is an additional purchase on top of the party ticket.
All of that is worth it for guests who can access it. But not every fall visit to the Disneyland Resort includes a separately ticketed event night, and not every family budget accommodates the extra cost on top of what a Disneyland vacation already requires.
Movie Nights at the Downtown Disney District is the free answer to all of that, and it is coming back for Halloween Time 2026.

What It Is
Movie Nights at the Downtown Disney District presented by Honda returns this fall with outdoor Halloween film screenings every Wednesday throughout September and October. The screenings take place on the Downtown Disney LIVE Stage lawn at the west end of the district near the main entrance. No park ticket required. There’s no event ticket required. The best part is there’s no additional cost of any kind.
The confirmed dates are September 9, 16, 23, and 30, and October 7, 14, 21, and 28. Eight Wednesday evenings of free outdoor Halloween movies at the Disneyland Resort span the heart of the fall season.
The Film Lineup
The official 2026 film lineup has not been announced yet. Looking at what Disney programmed in 2025 gives a reasonable preview of what to expect. Last year’s screenings featured Hocus Pocus, Hocus Pocus 2, Frankenweenie, and Haunted Mansion. A great mix of Halloween classics and more recent Disney releases that worked well for families across different ages. The 2026 lineup will be announced and updated once Disney releases the official schedule.
Why This Is Worth the Disneyland Calendar Space
Movie Nights at Downtown Disney returned by popular demand after its 2025 debut. Which is the most honest indicator of how well the offering landed with guests. An outdoor film screening under the stars at the Disneyland Resort on a fall Wednesday evening with Halloween programming. You’ll be surrounded by Downtown Disney dining and retail atmosphere. Which is exactly the kind of low-cost, high-atmosphere experience that makes a Disneyland vacation feel complete beyond the parks themselves.
For families who want the Halloween season magic of the Disneyland Resort without the additional ticket cost. These eight free Wednesday evenings starting September 9 are the offering worth marking on the calendar.
Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on sale to the general public on June 18. Movie Nights at Downtown Disney require no tickets.
