Disney Just Added the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Singer to ‘Toy Story 5’ Cast
Nobody saw this coming. Not the Toy Story fan community. The Pixar casting speculation circles didn’t see it coming. And not even the Bad Bunny fan base, which is enormous and closely follows everything he does professionally. The 2026 Super Bowl halftime headliner is voicing a character in Toy Story 5, and Pixar just confirmed it with an Instagram teaser that the internet is still processing.

That is the full character description and it is somehow exactly right.
Who Bad Bunny Is
Bad Bunny is the stage name of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, a Puerto Rican rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He headlined the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, one of the most watched single television broadcasts in American history. His album Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first Spanish language album to win a Grammy, a historic achievement that cemented his status as one of the most significant musical artists of his generation.
This is not his first acting credit. He appeared in Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt, was in Caught Stealing, and appears in Happy Gilmore 2. He has demonstrated a consistent willingness to take on varied film projects across different genres and scales. A Pixar animated film is a different category from any of those previous credits and represents a genuine cultural crossover between his audience and the Disney and Pixar universe.

The Character and the Teaser
Pixar shared a short teaser on Instagram revealing that Bad Bunny voices the character. A pizza slice wearing black sunglasses dances up and down while laughing in the clip. The visual is chaotic and fun, exactly the way a Toy Storycharacter voiced by Bad Bunny should be. The casting makes an odd kind of sense once you see it.
The Rest of the Toy Story 5 Cast
Bad Bunny joins a cast that includes Tom Hanks returning as Woody, Tim Allen returning as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack returning as Jessie. New additions include Greta Lee as Lilypad, Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants, and Alan Cumming as Evil Bullseye. Ernie Hudson steps into the role of Combat Carl following the passing of Carl Weathers. Blake Clark is expected to return as Slinky Dog.
The film centers on the gang being challenged when they encounter what kids are obsessed with today, specifically electronics, a premise that sets up generational tension between the analog toy world the franchise has always lived in and the digital world that defines modern childhood.
Toy Story 5 opens in theaters on June 19, 2026.
The Taylor Swift Question
Bad Bunny’s casting announcement arrives while one significant Toy Story 5 mystery remains unresolved. In early May, Taylor Swift’s official website briefly displayed a countdown clock featuring blue-and-white cloud imagery that fans immediately recognized as a nod to the iconic Toy Story visual palette. The countdown pointed to May 2 at 2 p.m. ET before disappearing approximately ten minutes after it appeared. No official statement was ever made.

May 2 passed without any confirmation of Taylor Swift or Toy Story 5. The June 19 release date also marks the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single. Nothing has been confirmed or ruled out. With Bad Bunny’s casting just revealed weeks before release, the possibility of at least one more major announcement before June 19 is not off the table.
