Josh D’Amaro shared his thoughts on The Walt Disney Company and the themed entertainment industry at large in a recent story published by The Hollywood Reporter. In the article, D’Amaro expresses excitement over the future of the Disney parks, but also says there’s never been a better time than now for companies like Disney.

“I think that there has never been a better time to be in this business. What we’re seeing here is this idea of convergence, where great stories are coming together with cutting edge technology coming together with physical experiences and immersive experiences. That’s what consumers are craving, that’s what they’re looking for.”

“There is no other company that invests as aggressively in technology,” D’Amaro continued, “the Imagineers are still doing it today, and there is no other company that has the physical and digital footprint that we have to deliver those stories and connections to our consumers around the world. So the Walt Disney Company, by virtue of that collection of IP and technology and platforms, is unrivaled.”

D’Amaro also discussed what a big year 2025 is for The Walt Disney Company. Disney is currently working on numerous expansion projects across its theme park resorts. These projects aren’t just limited to Disney’s two U.S. locations, however, with work also underway on new additions to places like Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland.

Stateside, work began on Monstropolis, a new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, earlier this summer. This new land replaces Muppet*Vision 3D and the entirety of Muppets Courtyard, a decision that has proven to be incredibly divisive.

Work is also underway on the transformation of Magic Kingdom’s Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. Eventually, this area will be home to a new place inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise called Piston Peak.
