6. Rivers of Light
One of the biggest announcements about the evening hours at Animal Kingdom outside of Pandora – World of Avatar was the introduction of a nighttime spectacular at the park. Like many aspects of Animal Kingdom, however, Rivers of Light sets a tone unlike anything its counterparts at the other Disney parks offer. The effects are still magical, but they are a little more understated than you’ll find in a show like Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Instead of flashes of light and booming explosions in the sky, you’ll see animal projections on water screens, fire effects, and fountains of water shooting from colorful floats – all set to stirring orchestral music. While the primary reason is to prevent the disturbance of the animal residents at the park, the subtler show nonetheless continues the messages of conservation and ecology at the park, and as such mark a perfect way to cap your day in Animal Kingdom.
