15 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Cruising With Disney

7. Disney’s private island

Did you know that Disney has its own private island exclusive to guests sailing aboard one of the Caribbean or Bahamian cruises? Castaway Cay, voted the 2017 Cruisers’ Choice top-rated cruise line private island destination, offers cruisers an on-shore respite and a host of excursions, activities, and other recreational opportunities on solid ground. You can enjoy family-friendly adventures, snorkeling, scenic trails, open-air barbecues, and plenty of character meet and greets along the way. There are also two shops on the island where you can buy souvenirs and gifts. Perhaps you want to mail postmarked Castaway Cay marking while you’re here. The island also boasts trams you can ride to get around, numerous swimming areas and even private areas designated for specific age groups, like teens and adults. These are all just a few of many Disney-style delights to take in. On two other interesting notes, Castaway Cay is the first private island to feature direct docking, eliminating the need of tendering guests to the shore. It is also home to around 60 full-time Disney Cruise Line cast members.
