9. Goofy’s Holler
In the famous words of Roger Rabbit, “No one takes a wallop like Goofy.” The first rule of cartoon physics: Gravity doesn’t work until you look down. Like any good slapstick superstar, Goofy can take a fall and take a beating with comedic excellence. But his most famous running gag is his “Goofy Holler.” The Goofy Holler is a stock sound effect, similar to the famous “Wilhelm Scream” used in a plethora of Goofy cartoons almost any time Goofy takes a large fall. The sound effect was provided by skier, Hannes Schroll, who did the yodels and the now famous holler in the Goofy short, The Art of Skiing. This sound effect can be heard in nearly every Goofy cartoon, but it has also been featured in many famous Disney films such as Cinderella, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Rescuers, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
