10 Tips for Surviving Walt Disney World with Small Children

Castle Day Walt and Mickey

10. Plan ahead.

A vacation at Walt Disney World is never one to be taken lightly or planned haphazardly. There are so many ways to tailor-make the perfect vacation experience for your family, and while that is a plus, it can be a downfall if you leave the planning to chance. Know where you want to stay, and book it early—Disney allows Guests to book their Disney Resort hotel 499 days in advance of their stay. Know how many days you want to spend in the parks, and don’t stray from that number. Adding days to your trip may add stress to your trip when you have little ones in tow, and you may find that you didn’t pack enough for the extra days. Know which characters you really want to meet. If your children have favorite characters, make those character encounters the first ones you experience, in case your little ones either become afraid of the costumes or simply disinterested after being in the parks for several days.
