10 Perks to Staying On-Site at Walt Disney World Resort

1. Disney-Themed Rooms

You can make your Disney World vacation even more magical by reserving one of the very popular Disney Story rooms, and you and your children will be thrilled with the theme, decor, and atmosphere created in these magnificent rooms.  Here are a sampling of choices:

Disney’sArt of Animation Resort--“Little Mermaid” standard room/”Lion King” Family Suite

            Disney’s Port Orleans/Riverside—Royal Guest Room

            Disney’sCaribbean Beach Resort—Pirate Room

Each of these themed rooms have been decorated and filled with props and furniture depicting each particular theme.  There are giant clamshell headboards, colorful scenes from “The Little Mermaid”, bedspreads and shower curtains decorated with all sorts of tropical fish; brilliant African jungle decor with portraits of Mufassa, Simba, Rafiki, Pumbaa, and Timon on the walls right out of “The Lion King” movie.  The Royal Guest Room is decorated with luxurious carpets, bedspreads, and headboards with lighted fireworks.  With pictures of all the Princesses on the walls, these rooms are truly fit for royalty.  Then there’s the pirate-themed rooms.  The rooms are filled with pirate loot, a giant curtain of a skull & crossbones, beds in the shape of a small boat, fish nets on the walls and latern shaped light fixtures, plus much more.  For a stay you won’t forget, try one of these unique Disney-themed rooms.  You may never want to stay in a standard room again.

There are so many more perks that are available at Disney Resort Hotels.  You may pay a bit more, but it is so worth it.  When we first visited Walt Disney World back in the early 80’s, we stayed off property, and I can still remember how hard it was at the end of a busy day at the Parks to ride a tram to our car, exit the parking lot, drive to our off-property hotel, unload all the kids and their souvenirs, get them to bed, then by the time my head hit the pillow, it was a few hours from starting all over again.  One year we made the decision to stay on property, at what was then called “Dixie Landings” and is now “Port Orleans/Riverside”, and have never stayed off-property again.  It was so new and different to us, and such a change from what we were used to.  It felt wonderful to park the car at the Resort Hotel, and not get in it again until our departure.  The only perk that we have not taken advantage of yet is a ride in the horsedrawn carriage, but  there’s always next year!
