10 Often Overlooked Experiences At Walt Disney World
Everyone remembers his or her vacations to the Walt Disney World Resort for the most common attractions and characters. While all of these iconic experiences have become the trademarks of Disney fun and entertainment, there are plenty of others that go unnoticed and underrated. Here are ten overlooked Walt Disney World experiences that too often go unnoticed.
10. Meet Flik
It is tough to be a bug, but Flik still makes it through at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. This innovative and courageous ant would love to share his big ideas with you, but you will have to find him first. Flik enjoys meeting guests on Discovery Island Trail, which is located left of the Tree of Life and on your way to Africa. He meets from 9 am to 12:55 pm and then again from 1:40 pm to 4:30 pm. Flik is from Pixar’s groundbreaking masterpiece, A Bug’s Life, which burrowed its way into theaters on November 14th, 1998.
9. Royal Majesty Makers
Located in Magic Kingdom, the Royal Majesty Makers are here to train future rulers, knights, and princesses in the ways of castle etiquette. Such lessons take place just behind Cinderella’s castle, near Prince Charming’s carousel. Be sure to partake in the sword pulling, in which guests will have the opportunity to attempt wielding the legendary blade. Only the chosen one may lift the sword from its entrapment. Think you are worthy? Do not miss this exciting opportunity at Magic Kingdom.
8. French Acrobats
It is easy to be so focused on rides, that you forget that each country in Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon has attractions. Over in the French pavilion, you can stop by to watch a fantastic, acrobatic spectacle. After a hint of comedic prowess from a jokester, watch and be amazed as one of the acrobats balances himself on continuously stacking chairs. How high can he go? One can only discover by visiting this periodic show in Epcot.
7. Japanese Drummers
Continuing your journey across the World Showcase, you will finally find the source of those drumming sounds you have heard all day. These expertly trained, Japanese drummers send booms across the lagoon with each strike of their instruments. These drummers are truly a spectacle to behold.
6. Marie
The adorable kitten from Disney’s animated classic doesn’t start fights, but she does finish them. You can find Marie at the front of Town Square as soon as you enter the Magic Kingdom. This kitty loves making new friends, and will surely delight in bringing a smile to your face. She meets continuously from 9:00 am until 2:10 pm. Marie is from The Aristocats, which captured audiences from its premiere in 1970.
5. MuppetVision
Kermit, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, and all of the Muppets are ready to show you their presentation of MuppetVision 3D. Join the gang on an outrageous adventure to capture the spirit of 3D, and restore balance to their already wacky world. You can find this zany attraction on the Streets of America at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
4. One Man’s Dream
Never lose sight of one thing, that all of Disney was started by a mouse. In a museum that showcases the works and history of Walt Disney himself, you can travel from his humble beginnings to the empire he has built today. This attraction is too often bypassed for Toy Story Mania, and is a must for those seeking to learn more about Walt himself.
3. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Hades, the lord of the dead, has come to the Magic Kingdom seeking domination. To accomplish this dastardly deed, he has resurrected an entire host of Disney villains to wreak havoc on the kingdom! But don’t lose heart. Merlin is training sorcerers to put an end to Hades’ plan. Using magical cards, travel through Magic Kingdom and defeat those who seek to dominate it. You can get recruited by the firehouse in Times Square, grab your spellcards, and begin your adventure!
2. Citizens of Hollywood
Hooray for Hollywood! Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, these dapper citizens are always strutting their glitz and glamour down the streets near the entrance. Some are celebrities soaking up every ounce of fame they can get. Others are wannabe actors and quirky policemen. You may even get to see Sonny Burbank, a charismatic politician who will do anything to get your vote.
1. Pirate Tutorial
Back in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland, Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial is one of the most underrated shows at Disney. Situated across from the legendary ride, this show is hosted by Jack Sparrow himself, along with his bumbling first mate.
