EPCOT

Top 10 Family Experiences at Epcot’s Future World

In terms of parks at Walt Disney World, Epcot is most often favored by adults rather than children. Even in just the front section of the park however, there are plenty of experiences for each member of the family to enjoy. Read on to learn about our picks for the best family adventures in Epcot’s Future World:

1. Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth, the ride located in the geodesic sphere which serves as the park’s icon, is a slow moving journey through the history of human communication. As a slow moving ride with no height requirement, this attraction is something that the whole family is able to experience together. This ride is one of my favorite attractions because it showcases history in an entertaining and understandable way for guests of all ages. It’s also the perfect way to start a visit to Future World, as Spaceship Earth is the center for all of the ideas represented in this part of the park.

2. Mission: Space

Mission: Space might not be a typical pick for a best family experience, however since this attraction can be experienced in a number of different ways, it actually is suitable for the whole family. Whether a member of your family is a thrill seeker, just wants to experience the attraction without the spinning sensation, or would prefer to learn about space in the interactive post-show room, this experience offers three different ways to get your fill of Mission: Space.

3. The Seas with Nemo and Friends

The Seas with Nemo and Friends is home to a number of experiences including the attraction with the pavilion’s namesake, Turtle Talk with Crush, and a number of interactive exhibits that allow each member of the family to learn more about some of their favorite ocean life. This pavilion is one of the most overlooked in Epcot, and is not to be missed.

4. Innoventions

Innoventions is home to a number of interactive exhibits and attractions that are both educational and fun for the whole family. In addition to promoting learning in an entertaining way, Innoventions is home to an attraction that allows guests to control the level of thrills they will experience– the Sum of All Thrills. This experience allows guests to design and ride their own rollercoaster, meaning they can make it as mild or as thrilling as they would like.

5. Soarin’

While it does come with a height requirement, Soarin’ is a safe bet for most members of the family. This attraction comes with mild thrills, but can provide excitement for thrill seekers and their non-thrill seeking family members alike. The recent refurbishment of Soarin’ to feature different locations around the world is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

6. Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Some members of the family may still remember the original version of this attraction, and while I would agree that the current version is nothing compared to the original it is still a fun experience that the whole family can partake in. The post show of Journey Into Imagination also includes a number of interactive activities that are perfect for the younger members of the family.

7. Coral Reef Restaurant

If you’re looking for a dining location in Future World that’s sure to impress the entire family, check out the Coral Reef Restaurant located in the Seas With Nemo and Friends pavilion. This restaurant includes a variety of menu options like steak and seafood that should please picky eaters, and it also offers an excellent view of the fish and other sea creatures in a giant tank that lines the walls in the seating area.

8. Pixar Short Film Festival

The Pixar Short Film Festival, located right next to the Imagination pavilion, occupies the home of the former Captain EO 3D attraction. This attraction features three Pixar short films, complete with 3D glasses, and a number of other effects that make seeing these films in this theater a truly special experience.

9. Pin trading

Pin trading is something that the whole family can easily come to enjoy on any Walt Disney World vacation. Future World happens to be one of my favorite places for pin trading. Some attractions and shops in Future World are home to interesting pin boards, and the pin trading shop behind Spaceship Earth is one of the best places to go to stock up on some new pins, or limited edition releases that are specific to certain events.

10. Garden Grill

The Garden Grill is a character dining location located in the Land pavilion where guests can meet Mickey and the gang while dining on a family style feast in a rotating restaurant. This restaurant provides entertainment through the character meet and greets as well as in the unique aspect of the dining room rotating through different scenes in the Land pavilion. The family style menu serves standard American food and is safe for any picky eaters in the family.
