Disney Glossary - 50 Terms You Should Know Before Visiting WDW Resort

21. Guest

A guest is a visitor to the Disney Resort.  Disney does not have customers, they have guests.

22. Guest Relations

Guest Relations are locations where guests can get assistance with theme park information, maps, time guides, restaurant reservations, annual passes, tour information, and currency exchanges, among many other services.

23. Hard ticket

Disney World offers separately ticketed special events in their theme parks throughout the year that take place after normal park closing.  Because admission to these events is not included with a normal park ticket, you need a separate ticket or “hard ticket” for the event.

24. “Have a Magical Day”

This is a phrase you’ll hear frequently when interacting with Cast Members.  They really do want you to have a day filled with magic and fun.

25. Hidden Mickey

A Hidden Mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse that has been incorporated into the design or decoration of Disney structure, location, attraction, or other object.  The most common Hidden Mickey is three circles representing his head and two ears, although you can also find side views of his head and even his full body hidden around the Disney Resort.

26. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP)

This hard-ticketed special event takes place in Magic Kingdom on select nights during the two months leading up to Halloween.  (And sometimes a day or so after.)  The Halloween party includes trick-or-treating, special shows, villain meet and greets, a Halloween parade, and special Halloween fireworks.

27. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP)

This hard-ticketed special event takes place in Magic Kingdom on select nights in the two months leading up to Christmas.  The Christmas party includes complimentary cookies and hot chocolate, special shows, “snow” on Main Street, a Christmas parade, and special Christmas fireworks.

28. Magic Shots

A magic shot is a Disney PhotoPass photograph in which a Disney character or other kind of Disney feature has been digitally added.  Ask the PhotoPass photographer if they do magic shots.  Some Disney World special events offer unique Magic Shot opportunities.

29. Magic Your Way Ticket

The base ticket for Disney World theme park admission is the Magic Your Way Ticket.  It grants the guest one admission to a theme park per day for the number of days on the ticket.  Options such as Park Hopper may be added to this base ticket for an additional cost.  The Magic Your Way ticket expires 14 days from first use.

30. MagicBand

The MagicBand is a device worn on your wrist that connects you to all your Disney World vacation options.  It is the key to your room, holds your FastPasses, accesses your Disney Dining Plan, and can be used for purchases when linked to a credit card.
