When you plan a trip to Walt Disney World, a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a must. Disney has done an excellent job of incorporating family friendly attractions and entertainment while also appealing to thrill seekers and adults looking to have a good time at a Disney park. While the park may be undergoing some changes, which has taken quite a few beloved attractions away, there is still plenty to do throughout the park. Here are six things you will love about Hollywood Studios:
There is definitely no shortage of delicious, and unique, dining at Hollywood Studios. There are five full service restaurants and a handful of quick service locations located throughout the park. If you want something a little classier if you’re celebrating a special occasion, The Hollywood Brown Derby is my suggestion. If you want something fun and different than any other dining on property, 50’s Prime Time Café or Sci-Fi Dine In Theater are excellent choices. And, of course, if you’re craving a quick meal of a burger and fries, there is always Rosie’s, which is my favorite quick service location.
As far as nighttime shows go, I believe this one tells the best story and is a crowd pleaser. Journey into Mickey’s imagination and you’ll see how magical it can be, but also how darkness and evil can also take over. You will be hooked from the moment the show starts to the moment it ends, and you’ll wish you could watch it over and over again. The use of lights, water, fireworks and other special effects makes this a must see during your time at Hollywood Studios.
4. The Great Movie Ride
If you’re a movie fan, this ride is made for you. Take a trip through some classic movie scenes on this slow moving ride, and you may even find yourself caught in the middle of an action packed movie scene in real life! It may not be the most exciting thing you’ll do all day, but it’s a nice way to take a trip down memory lane and beat the Florida heat. Plus, it’s housed inside the replica of the Chinese Theatre, which you should explore the outside of too because it’s really well done.
3. Star Wars
If you’re a fan of Star Wars, Hollywood Studios will feel like heaven to you. Feel the force as you partake in many Star Wars experiences throughout the park including Launch Bay, which has two character meet and greets and plenty of memorabilia and collectibles for you to shop and gaze at, Star Tour: The Adventure Continues and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, which is the new nighttime show at the park. Whether you are a new or old fan, there is something that will appeal to everyone and keep you entertained throughout the day.
2. Toy Story Midway Mania
This is quite possibly one of the best rides throughout the entire resort and one of my personal favorites. Shrink down to the size of a toy, enter Andy’s bedroom, grab a partner and go head to head in several carnival style 4D games hosted by some of your favorite Toy Story characters. This is a very popular attraction so if you’re able to, make a fastpass for it. If not, Disney has added a third track to help bring down the wait times and it seems to be working, so hit the attraction early in the day because it’s definitely worth the wait!
1. Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood Boulevard is home to not one, but two major, and popular, attractions in the park. Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster and The Tower of Terror are housed right next door to each other, which is great for the thrill seekers out there. These attractions are both innovative and well designed, not to mention they’re super fun! Because of their popularity, wait times tend to get longer as the day goes on, so getting a fastpass for at least one of them ensures you’ll only have to wait on one long line during the day. Also on Hollywood Boulevard is the Beauty and the Beast stage show, which is great if you want to sit down for a while and you enjoy musicals. There’s also a ton of shops and food for all of your souvenir and hunger needs, making Hollywood Boulevard the most important section of the park!
Hollywood Studios is a great park for the whole family, whether you enjoy thrill rides, slow rides, shows or unique dining experiences. There is something for everyone and although there may not be as many attractions as before, what the park does have is sure to keep you entertained and having a blast all day long.
